The Bhagavad Gita presents insights into five fundamental truths and their interconnectedness: God (Krishna), the individual soul, the material world, actions in the world, and time. It delves into the essence of consciousness, self-awareness, and the universe, encapsulating India's profound spiritual philosophy.

Derived from the fifth Veda written by the ancient Indian saint Vedavyasa and an integral part of the Indian epic Mahabharata, the Bhagavad Gita was initially narrated during the battle of Kurukshetra by Lord Krishna to Arjuna.

This ancient scripture consists of 700 verses and is considered a significant Dharmic text. It unfolds a philosophical dialogue between Pandava prince Arjuna and his mentor Krishna on various profound topics.

Amidst the backdrop of a war between brethren, a disheartened Arjuna seeks guidance from his charioteer Krishna on the battlefield. Across the Bhagavad Gita's verses, Krishna imparts wisdom to Arjuna, enlightening him on devotion, selfless actions, and spiritual doctrines. While preserving the essence of the Upanishads and its philosophical heritage, the Bhagavad Gita uniquely melds dualistic and theistic elements.

Through centuries, scholars have penned diverse commentaries on the Bhagavad Gita, interpreting its teachings in multifaceted ways. Initially expounded by Adi Shankara in the eighth century CE, commentators often interpret the battlefield setting as an allegory for life's moral and ethical struggles. Noteworthy figures like Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi found solace and guidance in the Bhagavad Gita, deeming it his spiritual beacon.
